Former Citi banker among Julius Baer new hires

Published by AsianPrivateBanker  – 3rd March 2015

About a month after former Credit Agricole Private Banking Hong Kong CEO Serge Janowski resurfaced at Julius Baer, the Swiss pure play has selected a clutch of relationship managers as part of the industry veteran’s new Hong Kong team.

Johann Santer joins from investment company C-Quadrant, Jinhoo Lee from Citibank, and Xavier Bosco from Commerzbank.  Bosco will focus on institutional clients and report to Janowski, who is Julius Baer’s managing director and head of special markets.

A spokesperson from the bank could not be reached for comment.

Santer worked in a similar role in C-Quadrant, covering institutional clients in Asia. At Citibank, Lee covered institutional clients in Korea and Singapore for the global markets Asia division. Bosco was the product engineering head of equity and commodities markets in Asia for Germany-headquartered bank Commerzbank. He had previously worked for Citibank and BNP Paribas.

The appointments underscore the Swiss pure play’s recent management shuffle with the hire of Janowski, the departure of Alison May Chan as head of North Asia business management, and the exit of a team of bankers serving non-Korea-domiciled Korean clients in Hong Kong led by Y J Kim.

Julius Baer’s assets under management rose to US$72 billion and its relationship manager headcount was 239 at the end of 2013, according to this publication’s league table.
