Altair appoints heads of research

Published by Financial Standard – 11th March 2015

High conviction Australian equities boutique manager Altair Asset Management has appointed Alvin Chan and Tim Riordan as co-heads of research for the investment firm.

The announcement follows the recent appointment of former Platinum Asset Management global equity analyst Dr. Sally Warneford, who joins Altair as senior analyst.

Chan and Riordan will continue to be the co-portfolio managers of Altair’s funds, the Altair Advantage Fund and the Altair Income Fund. Both men also serve on Altair’s investment committee which includes Gerard Minack, Stephen Roberts and Altair’s executive chairman, Philip Parker.

“I am delighted with the appointments as both Alvin and Tim have the necessary investment experience and acumen to further develop and enhance the institutional research process in addition to running portfolios. Sally brings many years of institutional investment experience to strengthen the capabilities of the firm,” Parker said.

Warneford holds a PhD in Medicine and has had a career that includes medical research roles and extensive experience in analysing stocks and managing equity portfolios.

“For Altair, it is all about creating and delivering an institutional investment approach/solution within a boutique framework to meet our client’s objectives,” Parker finished.
