The asset management arm of Edmond de Rothschild Group has promoted Weiwei Li to be its new head of Chinese equities.

She steps into the role after the former head of Chinese equities, Xing Hu, left the firm on March 1 to explore other professional opportunities.

Li will be based in Hong Kong and report to Thomas Gerhardt, head of emerging equities and commodities.

She will join Gerhardt’s team of 10 fund managers from six different nationalities to provide investors an emerging market equity offer, which includes Asia, Latin America and EMEA.

Li has 18 years of experience in finance in London and Hong Kong, and she joined Edmond de Rothschild Asset Management Hong Kong in 2011 as a senior fund manager.

Prior to joining Edmond de Rothschild, between 2007 and 2011 Li had worked as Asia specialist at Altima Partners.

She has also worked as a fund manager specialised in continental China at Fabien Pictet & Partners in London, and well as working at ABN Amro and Invesco.
