Tian Rencan, the CEO of Shanghai-based HFT Investment Management Co., left the firm to pursue other opportunities.
Mr. Tian declined to provide specific details about his next move in a telephone interview, noting that he’s in the process of leaving the 51%/49% joint venture between Haitong Securities Co. and BNP Paribas Investment Partners.
But the industry veteran said he will be restarting with a “new team” more focused on institutional and international business.
A Hong Kong-based spokesman for BNP Paribas Investment Partners said a replacement for HFT’s CEO position has been identified and will be announced “in due course.”
On an interim basis, Zhang Wenwei, the chairman of HFT’s board, has taken on the CEO role as well.
