After 18 months in the role, the managing director of ANZ’s global private wealth arm leaves as the Australian bank merges its wealth and private bank Asia teams.
Manfred Liechti, managing director, global private bank, has left the bank, an internal email from Joyce Phillips, CEO, global wealth confirmed today. He will be replaced by Bret Packard, currently managing director, wealth Asia, global wealth division, based in Singapore. Under the new arrangement, Kevin Ong, currently head of private bank, South East Asia, Arjan de Boer, head of private bank, North Asia and Mario Bassi, head of business management for the private bank will report into Packard.
Liechti joined the bank in May 2013. Prior to that he was at Coutts from 2009 to 2013, having spent the majority of his career previously at UBS. He is the latest of a slew of private bankers to leave ANZ, including the loss of the entire NRI and Malaysia teams almost exactly one year ago.
