US-based Columbia Threadneedle Investments (Columbia Threadneedle) has appointed Ng Soo Nam to head the Asian equities, Europe, department effective October 1.
Based in Singapore, he replaces Vanessa Donegan, who retires as head of Asian equities, Europe.
“Vanessa’s contributions both to Columbia Threadneedle and to our industry have been immeasurable and she has been integral to helping build Columbia Threadneedle into the firm it is today,” Mark Burgess, the company’s chief investment officer, says in a July 9 statement.
Mr. Ng will co-manage the US$857 million Threadneedle Asia Fund from Singapore with London-based George Gosden, the company’s director of Asia ex-Japan equities.
“I look forward to continuing to lead and grow our Asian equity offering to our clients globally,” Mr. Ng says in the statement. “We have a well-resourced and highly talented team of investment professionals who can draw on the global resources of Columbia Threadneedle.”
Mr. Ng, who was appointed head of Asian equities at Columbia Threadneedle in January this year, has over 20 years of experience managing Asian equities. He was previously chief investment officer at Nikko Asset Management, a position he held for six years.
Columbia Threadneedle had $2 billion of assets under management in Asia as at May 31, 2018.
