Amundi Asset Management Malaysia (Amundi Malaysia), a subsidiary of Paris-based Amundi Asset Management, has appointed Haizan Johari as its new managing director.

Mr. Haizan, who started work on July 30, succeeds Roslina Rahman who left the company last month to become group chief executive officer of government-linked fund management firm ValueCAP.

A spokesperson for Amundi Malaysia tells Asia Asset Management that Mr. Haizan’s appointment was recently approved by Securities Commission Malaysia.

“Mr. Haizan will play a leading role in helping Amundi Malaysia to continue to provide its global expertise with adaptation to the investment needs of its local clientele in Malaysia,” the spokesperson says.

Prior to joining Amundi Malaysia, Mr. Haizan was director of institutional business at Eastspring Investments.

He has also held senior positions at other companies, including as executive director and Malaysia country head at UBS Securities, and senior vice president of Malaysian sovereign wealth fund Khazanah Nasional.

Mr. Haizan has more than 25 years of experience in the financial and investment industry.

Amundi Asset Management, Europe’s largest asset manager, had 1.46 trillion euros (US$1.71 trillion) of assets under management as at end-June, 2018.
