AMP Limited has looked outside the ranks of financial advice executives and has appointed a former investment banking executive, Alex Wade to head up advice business replacing Jack Regan.

Wade was most recently the Head of Developed and Emerging Asia for Credit Suisse Private Banking and had been with Credit Suisse for 12 years.

The AMP announcement said that Wade would report to AMP chief executive, Francesco De Ferrari and will take up his new role effective from 7 January.

It said that AMP’s acting group executive, Advice, David Akers, who had been covering the area while Regan was on extended leave, would work with Wade to transition responsibilities and would return to the advice leadership team with Blair Vernon continuing as managing director of New Zealand.

The AMP announcement said Wade had substantial experience in the wealth management and banking industries and had strong track record in building and leading businesses.

Commenting on the appointment, De Ferrari said Wade was a talented strategic thinker who would bring valued experience and relationships to the AMP advice business.
