Edward Ho has joined the firm as its Head of Sales, Hong Kong.
Edward will report to London-based Warren Tonkinson, managing director, distribution. Going forward Kylie Chan, head of sales, North Asia and Anna Yau, sales manager, will report to Edward.
In this role, Edward is responsible for expanding Merian Global Investor’s presence in Hong Kong.
Edward has over 23 years’ experience in the finance industry and joined Merian Global Investors from Wells Fargo Asset Management where he was managing director and Asia Pacific head of client relations from October 2015, based in Hong Kong. Prior to joining Merian Global Investors and Wells Fargo, Edward spent two decades on the trading floor with various investment banks working in management, sales and product structuring. From 2008 to 2015, Edward was managing director and global head of equity derivatives and intermediary sales at Standard Chartered Bank. He built and oversaw the global sales and distribution platform in wealth management structured products, listed warrants, convertible bonds and institutional derivatives. He was also responsible for managing relationships with a wide range of clients including retail and private bank intermediaries, financial institutions, asset managers and corporates.
From 2005 to 2008, Edward was senior managing director and Asia head of equity derivatives at Bear Stearns. He built a successful equity derivative business for the firm in Asia and put in place a cohesive sales and structuring team. He was a member of the firm’s Asia Management Committee and a board director of Bear Stearns Asia Limited. Before Bear Stearns, Edward worked at Merrill Lynch where he led the Greater China equity structured products sales team for five years. He also has three years of experience with Bankers Trust where he was responsible for marketing cross-asset derivatives products. Edward began his career in New York with Lehman Brothers equities division in 1995.
