August Hatecke, co-head of wealth management for Asia-Pacific, will also assume the role of country head of Singapore and head of the Singapore branch.
Hatecke will assume his new role on 19 February, according to a statement from the firm. He will replace Edmund Koh, who was appointed as APAC president last year.
In his country head role, Hatecke will report to Koh and will be responsible for driving the firm’s strategy in Singapore, overseeing governance and risks and chairing the Singapore management committee, according to the statement.
Hatecke just became co-head of wealth management for Asia-Pacific in December together with Amy Lo, who is also the country head for UBS Hong Kong.
As co-heads, Hatecke will look after the Southeast Asia business, while Lo will focus on North Asia.
Separately, the firm also appointed Desmond Kuek as divisional vice chairman.
In Asia-Pacific, UBS is one of the largest wealth managers with at least $300bn in AUM in the region.
