Scottish asset manager Aberdeen Standard Investments has hired Ben Sheehan for the newly created position of senior equity investment specialist for Asia Pacific.
Mr. Sheehan, who was previously Asian equities senior product specialist at HSBC Global Asset Management, joined his new company in February.
Based in Hong Kong, he reports to Donald Amstad, Asia Pacific chief operating officer for distribution and head of investment specialist, Aberdeen Standard Investments says in a statement on April 5.
Mr. Sheehan will work with the company’s Asia Pacific equities and distribution teams to ensure investment knowledge transfer internally and externally, and help drive its commercial strategy.
“The appointment of Ben reflects our commitment to our clients in the region…In the last year, we continued to add in market sales, investment and product strategy specialists who possess technical expertise in tailoring products and solutions to support our distribution effort across Asia Pacific,” Andrew Hendry, the company’s head of distribution for Asia Pacific, says in the statement.
Mr. Sheehan worked at HSBC Global Asset Management for 12 years in various positions, including senior research analyst and associate director for client services.
Meanwhile, Aberdeen Standard Investments says its Singapore-based Asia Pacific head of banks, Amelie Remond, left the company last week. Her responsibilities will be taken over by the other members of the Asia Pacific distribution team.
Aberdeen Standard Investments had £505.0 billion (US$643 billion) of total assets as at December 31, 2018.
