Nomura, the Japanese banking giant, has appointed former senior Morgan Stanley wealth manager Amanda Chen as deputy head of wealth management Asia ex-Japan, this publication can exclusively report.
Chen was the former head of private wealth management for Singapore at Morgan Stanley where she had worked for more than a decade. This publication understands that today is her first day on the job. Chen will be based in Singapore.
The role is a newly-created one, a spokesperson for Nomura told this publication in an email.
In June last year Nomura announced a series of moves to drive further growth across its wealth management business in Asia, including Japan. A new wealth management business was established within the firm’s retail division, integrating the Japan wealth management group with the Asia wealth management business.
The new structure is overseen by Juntaro Kimura, senior managing director and head of wealth management at Nomura Holdings.
The bank hopes by combining the Japanese and Asia operations they will be able to achieve greater synergies while delivering high value-added products and services to their wealth management clients.
