BNY Mellon names new Japanese executive

Boutique asset manager BNY Mellon Investment Management has announced Yoshiyuki Shimoyama as the company’s new head of financial institutions group for Japan.

Based in the company’s Tokyo office, Mr Shimoyama will work with a number of insurance companies and banks, reporting to BNY Mellon Asset Management Japan chair and president Shogo Yamaguchi.

ZURICH: Credit Suisse expects higher lending to the world’s wealthiest individuals will help its big bet on wealth management pay off.

Around a third of the 30.2 billion Swiss francs (US$29.8 billion) of net new assets taken in last year at its International Wealth Management (IWM) and Asia Pacific (APAC) divisions came via lending, according to Chief Financial Officer David Mathers, who believes this could go even higher.

MAS sets up council to review Code of Corporate Governance

The Monetary Authority of Singapore has formed a Corporate Governance Council to review the Code of Corporate Governance. It will be chaired by former chairman of the Singapore Exchange (SGX), Chew Choon Seng.

The CG Code was last reviewed in 2012, when changes were introduced to strengthen board independence and enhance remuneration practices and disclosures, said MAS in a statement issued on Monday.
