Cazenove Capital acquires C Hoare & Co’s wealth management arm

Cazenove Capital is to acquire C Hoare & Co’s wealth management business for an undisclosed sum.

The oldest private bank in London, C.Hoare & Co has 1,800 private clients and £2.2bn of discretionary assets under management, as at the end of June 2016.

Janus and Henderson to merge

Anglo-Australian investment firm Henderson Group is to merge with US-based Janus Capital Group to create a combined firm with more than GBP250 billion in assets under management.

The deal is being described as a “merger of equals” although Henderson’s investors will own 57 per cent of the new Janus Henderson Global Investors company and Janus’ the remaining 43 per cent.

Standard Chartered continues to calibrate its managing structure in Singapore and has announced the addition of another two senior bankers to its Private Banking unit and the departure of the Ultra High Net Worth unit head.

Andrew Ho will join the bank as Managing Director and Market Head, Indonesia, and Vishal Jain joins as Managing Director and Market Head, Global South Asia Community (GSAC) Asia, the bank said in a statement.

Bank of Singapore’s Greater China team head, and a former member of parliament in Singapore, has left the bank, this publication can confirm.

“Arthur Fong has tendered his resignation and is currently serving notice. His last position with Bank of Singapore was managing director and team head, reporting to Oliver Tang, market head, Greater China,” a spokesperson told WealthBriefingAsia in an emailed statement late last week.

Amundi hires Wan Howe Chung to head up Asian fixed income

Wan Howe Chung has joined French asset manager Amundi as director, head of Asian fixed income at Amundi Singapore – he will report to Philip Chow, chief investment officer, global fixed income & foreign exchange (FX), Asia of Amundi Singapore. He joins the firm from Standish Mellon Asset Management, where he was the portfolio manager managing Asian fixed-income funds from Singapore as part of the Asian and emerging-market debt teams.

ANZ Slashes Singapore Jobs

In May this year ANZ announced job cuts at its Melbourne headquarters of around 200 positions. When asked by finews.asia at that time the bank said there were no plans for job cuts in Asia.

Now a report from local Singaporean publication Today has revealed a steady stream of retrenchments at the Australian firms city-state operations. The report details that in the region of 20 percent or 400 positions have been lost in «cost cutting» exercises.

Lombard Odier Boosts Southeast Asia Team

Geneva headquartered Lombard Odier has boosted its ASEAN coverage with the recruitment of an additional Senior Relationship Manager. The new hire will report directly to the Singapore CEO.

In a statement to finews.asia a bank spokesperson confirmed that Sandy Lim has joined Lombard Odier Singapore as a Senior Relationship Manager (RM) focusing on the Southeast Asian market. He will hold the title of Executive Director at Lombard Odier Singapore and will report directly to Vincent Magnenat, CEO Singapore and Head of Private Banking, Asia.

Sumitomo Mitsui Trust appoints managing director for international business

Yukihiro Murota was named managing director of Sumitomo Mitsui Trust International in London, said a spokeswoman.

Mr. Murota replaces Hisaya Kambayashi, who is returning to the $446 billion money manager’s head office in Tokyo to take on the newly created role as general manager of the fiduciary business planning department, she said. Mr. Kambayashi is responsible for global strategies in the money management business.

Grace Tam joins HSBC Global AM from Credit Suisse Private Banking

Grace Tam has joined HSBC Global Asset Management (HSBC Global AM) as an associate director and senior market specialist. Based in Hong Kong, she joins the firm from Credit Suisse Private Banking and reports to Alison Brown, director and head of sales of the company’s wholesale business.

Ms. Tam will mainly be responsible for supporting the retail distribution of HSBC funds in Hong Kong and China, and will look to bolster HSBC Global AM’s communication of its investment outlook and key investment events.
