Swiss banking software firm Avaloq is facing financial difficulties including a stumble in Singapore and has begun talking to private equity investors. Founder Francisco Fernandez risks losing his independence.

The Zurich-based IT house is talking to several private equity firms over a partial sale, several people familiar with the matter in London and Zurich told finews.com. Among them is New York-based KKR. Avaloq didn’t comment.

According to the the latest quarterly report on global fintech venture capital trends published by KPMG and CB Insights, global venture capital fintech funding declined in the third quarter 2016.

The drop was the second consecutive quarterly fall in fintech deals and dollars, however Asia bucked the trend with overall investment expected to reach new highs in 2016.

Nutmeg has secured a £24 million ($30 million) investment from Hong Kong-based Convoy Global as part of a £30 million funding round.

The new capital will be used to enhance Nutmeg’s product offering and boost the scale of the UK business, the company said in a statement. It will focus specifically on innovation including new investing options, tax wrappers and advisory capabilities.

Hong Kong’s 12-week fintech accelerator programme sponsored by Standard Chartered and Fidelity International «SuperCharger FinTech 2.0» has chosen its finalists.

For a second year running, SuperCharger, which aims to help the most promising start-ups and scale-ups grow in Asia, has surpassed other Hong Kong FinTech accelerators with almost 200 applicants from 33 countries from which 8 finalists were selected.

Privately held investment firm Senjo Group has relocated its corporate headquarters to Singapore in recognition of Singapore’s growing influence in the Fintech sector. Representatives said the business-friendly environment and focus on financial innovation was key in their decision to lease the entire 56th floor of One Raffles Place. Senjo was only recently set up in 2015. The company was launched to manage a portfolio of payments processing, cross-border remittance, foreign exchange, trade finance, e-commerce, mobile payments, commodity trading and factoring businesses. Senjō also has regional offices in Japan, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Thailand, Luxembourg and the UK, and operations in most major markets.
