AXA IM announces raft of senior hires for new absolute return team

AXA Investment Managers has made a number of senior hires for its new liquid absolute return strategies team, called AXA IM Chorus.

Jérôme Brochard and Hector Chan are set to take on co-chief investment officer roles, having joined the group from Goldman Sachs.

Juliet Bullick was named global head of consultant relations at Fidelity International, said a spokeswoman.

The position is new. Ms. Bullick works with the firm’s institutional teams across the globe to meet the evolving needs of investment consultants, said the spokeswoman.

PIMCO will hire over 20 new professionals in sales and marketing, operations, legal and compliance roles to facilitate its Asia Pacific expansion.

Speaking to Financial Standard, PIMCO head of Asia Pacific Eric J. Mogelof said the region “continues to be an important growth engine for PIMCO. We manage assets for both institutional and wealth management clients, with more institutional assets at present but a rapidly growing individual investor base.”

Financial services group Manulife has announced a change at the top, with a new Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer.
Linda Mantia will commence her new role on October 3rd 2016, she will be a member of the Executive Committee and the global leadership team, and will lead approximately 7,100 people around the world, including in Asia’s wealth hubs.

Lyxor Asset Management has appointed Laurent Renaud as chief executive in Japan, effective immediately. He replaces Toshiro Kubozono who has retired after nine years in the role.

Based in Tokyo, Renaud (pictured) reports to Lionel Paquin, chief executive officer of Lyxor Asset Management, and locally to Raphael Cheminat, group country head for Japan, Societe Generale.

BNP Paribas Investment Partners (BPIP) has appointed Christian Bucaro, head of private wealth for BNP Paribas Investment Partners, Asia Pacific (APAC), as chief executive officer for Singapore, effective September 2.

Mr. Bucaro takes over the role from Puay-Lit Tan, who has taken time off to pursue his personal interests.
